Our Project Plan
The Designing Wellness Through Space Girl Action Team helps Black girls explore how interior design can be used as a tool for mental health, self-expression, and balance. Through a creative partnership with professional interior designers, participants learn the 10 Fundamentals of Design—including color, texture, lighting, and layout—and how to apply them to transform classrooms and personal spaces into calm, inspiring environments.
Each week, girls will build new skills, gain career exposure, and develop practical, low-cost ways to create beauty and peace in their surroundings. By the end of the program, participants who complete all sessions will earn the opportunity to have a professional designer help them redesign their own bedroom—creating a personal sanctuary that supports their mental wellness.
This program is about more than decorating—it’s about healing, creativity, and empowerment. It reminds girls that they have the power to design their lives, starting with the spaces around them.
