Our Project Plan

From Fifth Grade to the Future is a Girl Action Team for George Washington Carver students, designed to prepare 5th-grade Black girls for the transition into middle school with confidence and joy. Modeled after our Mission In Bloom summer curriculum, the program combines journaling, book clubs, and weekly Sistah Circles to create safe spaces for reflection, self-expression, and belonging.

Participants strengthen reading and academic skills while also learning leadership, advocacy, problem-solving, and communication. Along the way, they are guided to see growth as something to embrace, not fear, and to prepare for middle school as a new opportunity to lead and shine.

By the end of the year, participants are middle school ready—equipped with the tools, confidence, and sisterhood they need to navigate new challenges and step boldly into this next stage of their journey with resilience and purpose.
