Eligibility

Priority is given to families with low incomes who are facing challenges beyond financial. However, if your financial circumstances have changed since your recent W-9 please do not hesitate to apply and write a hardship letter.

Richmond Metropolitan families with low incomes who are working (part-time or full-time) or going to school

  • Children served must be U.S. citizens or qualified immigrants 
  • Children served must be under age the age of 18 
  • Children with special needs

Scholarship Application Procedure

  1. Before filling out the form below, collect all of the following required documentation:
    • A copy of your most recent Tax Return (submitted 1040 showing gross yearly income and number in household)
    • A copy of your most recent W2(s)
    • A copy of your most recent pay stub
    • A personal letter of hardship
  2. Complete the entire application form below for each Participant (child) applying for this scholarship.
  3. Please have at least one (and up to three) short letter(s) of recommendation from a teacher, coach, or counselor to let us know you are giving 100% effort to your school. The person(s) recommending the scholarship applicant (you, the Parent/Guardian) must send the letter directly to Girls For A Change at either address listed below:

  4. Submit the required documentation mentioned above via the following methods:
    • By emailing scanned copies to Na'Kera Richardson at nakera@girlsforachange.org
    • By sending copies (do not send the originals) to:
      Girls For a Change, 100 Buford Road, North Chesterfield, VA 23235
    • By visiting the address above either with copies or bring the originals so we may make copies for you
  5. The scholarship application process for the  Camp Diva Leadership Academy will close on April 15th.
  6. Full and Partial Scholarships are announced on May 4th.
  7. The scholarship recipient will have 5 days to accept the scholarship funds.
    • If selected, each scholarship recipient must sign a contract, provide all the required documents noted above, pay the application registration fee, and finalize any additional costs not associated with the full/partial scholarship amount owed by May 22nd.
    • If we do not receive payment, your spot will be forfeited.
