DESCRIPTION:The Designing Wellness Through Space Girl Action Team helps Black girls explore how interior design can be used as a tool for mental health\, self-expression\, and balance. Through a creative partnership with professional interior designers\, participants learn the 10 Fundamentals of Design—including color\, texture\, lighting\, and layout—and how to apply them to transform classrooms and personal spaces into calm\, inspiring environments. \n\n\n\nEach week\, girls will build new skills\, gain career exposure\, and develop practical\, low-cost ways to create beauty and peace in their surroundings. By the end of the program\, participants who complete all sessions will earn the opportunity to have a professional designer help them redesign their own bedroom—creating a personal sanctuary that supports their mental wellness. \n\n\n\nThis program is about more than decorating—it’s about healing\, creativity\, and empowerment. DESCRIPTION:From Fifth Grade to the Future is a Girl Action Team for George Washington Carver students\, designed to prepare 5th-grade Black girls for the transition into middle school with confidence and joy. Modeled after our Mission In Bloom summer curriculum\, the program combines journaling\, book clubs\, and weekly Sistah Circles to create safe spaces for reflection\, self-expression\, and belonging. \n\n\n\nParticipants strengthen reading and academic skills while also learning leadership\, advocacy\, problem-solving\, and communication. DESCRIPTION:The Immersion Lab\, launched by Girls For A Change in 2019\, prepares Black girls to thrive by closing the digital divide and addressing career skills gaps. More than a coding program\, it provides mentorship\, training\, certifications\, and entrepreneurship opportunities that build creativity\, confidence\, and leadership. Participants work with professionals\, test ideas in pop-up shops\, and practice pitching to investors while also accessing opportunities like the Creative Industry Camp in New York City. Whether they come with a business idea or not\, girls gain practical experience\, mentorship\, and resources that help them explore careers\, launch ventures\, and strengthen essential life skills.
