Introduction

Girls For A Change (GFAC) has focused more deeply on the empowerment and uplifting of a population whose needs are most unmet — Black girls.  GFAC’s 5 year goal for the organization is to raise over $5 million for Black girls in the Richmond Metro Area. All funds will support growth, development, and opportunities for Black girls with limited resources from elementary to early adulthood.  As Development Director for GFAC, you must understand the mission of the organization and be able to articulate the importance of this mission when drafting proposals for grant solicitations.

Direct Supervisor

Reporting to and in partnership with the CEO, the Development Director (Director) will spearhead development efforts as Girls For A Change Nonprofit continues to grow. As a new position in the organization, the Director will have the opportunity to build the development function.

Responsibilities*

  • Develop and execute GFAC’s annual fundraising plan
  • Secure financial support from individuals, foundations, and corporations
  • Manage the implementation of Raiser's Edge and oversee staff responsible for data entry and gift processing
  • Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors
  • Create and execute a strategy for a large, sustained base of annual individual donors
  • Oversee the organization of special events
  • Develop and track proposals and reports for all foundation and corporate fundraising

Qualifications

  • BA (required), MA (a plus)
  • Five-plus year’s experience in development
  • Demonstrated excellence in organizational, managerial, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of Raiser's Edge

 

Grant Writing Qualifications / Skills

  • Presentation skills & written communication skills
  • Graphic design & technical documentation skills are a plus 
  • Problem-solving & deadline-oriented
  • Process improvement
  • Coordination & strategic planning
  • Communication and market knowledge

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Media, or related field
  • Minimum of 1-year experience in grant writing, prospect research, general fundraising, or a minimum of 2 years of comparable and transferable skills acquired in a professional setting

Salary and Benefits

  • Salary position based on experience $50,000- $55,500
